Ever since Mary Shelly's creation of Frankenstein, Society has been able to get more used to the fact that a creature could be hideous but be capable of love and kindness. Now a days, Science fiction, Gothic, and Horror genres have become a big hit in entertainment. With the 1931 hit movie Frankenstein and the 1935 sequel Frankenstein's Bride, society was able to get used to the idea that looks are not everything and maybe The Demon was not so bad after all. In the 1964 hit TV Series The Addams Family. We see the Demon (mislabeled as Frankenstein) be a part of a dark yet quite normal Family. He became to society a lovable character and seamed to have lost his scary appeal he once had. In more current days, we see franchises like Monster High that make movies, shows and dolls depicting a more child friendly image of monsters. In this case we see the character Frankie Stein, the daughter of the Demon. She is a cute looking character that makes the demon seem much less horrific to people in our day and age that the people of Mary Shelly's time.
Now a days, we see the love of The Demon being taken to other extremes. People make him into art in the forms of sculptures, paintings and Plushies. Some even go as far as to get the face that Hollywood created for him tattooed on their bodies. Society loves The Demon. Mostly because we have learned not to judge a person by their appearance but by the heart they have. In a society full of people who feel that they may not belong, The demon is relatable and in turn socially accepted by all.
